DESCRIPTION
Record flights in Feb 2014 by Lee Haigwood (US) and Dean Warren (US) to Treasure Beach! Rumor has it that a visiting pilot from San Francisco has flown from here in April 2010 about 20 km upwind (SSE) to Southfield and back (no data available to substantiate the claim).ACTIVITIES
- paragliding- flatland
- hanggliding
- soaring
- thermals
weather
Prevailing easterly trade winds over 10 mph are an impediment. They make launching impossible as it will be tail on launch. Rule of thumb: on a sunny day, thermals will block the trades up to 10 mph of strength.access
From N: Drive to Santa Cruz and turn S at clock tower traffic lights. Follow road S, keep right and then turn right in Malvern. Follow road until you get to street crossing almost on top of the mountain and continue through big open stone gate posts down the hill on an eroded road. From S: Drive towards Malvern Wells and take the only small asphalt road up the hill. When you reach the crossing, turn sharp left through the stone gate posts and follow the eroded road down. 4x4 recommended!regulation
