weather

Works great when it works. This site is hard to predict and frequently changes wind direction and speed unexpectedly in blink. If no wind sock large enough at LZ, you are flying blind as wind changes directions suddenly to 90 degrees at random. Check with Platteville airport AWOS for rough idea. If 6-7 mph at Platteville, on top is often 10-12mph. Avoid strong wind take offs as limited space. Wind can increase speed at random.

access

Easy access, walk up the stairs.

regulation

Public area. Respect that! Benches, tall antenna, barb wire fence are to be avoided at all costs at take off. People and dogs hike around or sit on the benches to observe. Common sense. Kind "understanding"granted by the property owners at bottom but do not abuse that. LZ beyond the houses and avoid flying low over them. Park at p lot at base, preferably at corner lots. Wind sock at LZ is paramount. Must be P2 and familiar with low hill and ridge flying. No P1 and sled run practices recommended. Strong wind place needing excellent ground handling play!
