Jurby
DESCRIPTION
Jurby is a low site situated on sand cliffs. The areas used for take off are problematic because of extensive growth of ferns and bracken fouling lines and rolling sand dunes out front make for rotor on launch. Care is needed at the sand quarry south of launch as this also has rotor. For these reasons this site is not used much any more. The sand cliffs here are at 45 degrees, rounded at the top and covered in grass and braken, making lanches easier for hang gliders than many areas on the cliffs which are only suitable for paragliders. The rotor areas can be safely negotited by hang gliders by using a little more speed when crossing these areas. Any gaps or 'cuts' in the higher ridge should be treated with care and crossed with extra speed. This isn't really ossible on a paraglider, so don't be tempted!ACTIVITIES
