We are excited to announce the launch of APPI FlightLog, a new feature enabling APPI members to create a digital flight logbook focused on progression analysis.

APPI FlightLog offers flexible flight entry, allowing pilots to have automatic upload through the Volandoo app, manually declare their flights, or upload an IGC track or a batch of tracks. Pilots can customize each entry with detailed targeted comments and photos, creating a comprehensive visual record of their flight experiences.

Automatic IGC track analysis provides essential flight data, including duration, maximum altitude, climb and descent rates, as well as distance analysis for different flight types (free distance, triangle, FAI triangle) and average speed.

Flight visualization is simple and effective when an IGC track is uploaded. Powerful visualization features thanks to partnership with FlyXC enrich the experience with 3D visualizations, group flight replays, distance flight planning tools with airspace visualization and skyways.

Each flight can be documented with the pilot's own analysis and comments, encouraging the essential habit of self-reflection after each flight. Beyond individual flight comments, pilots can insert "learning steps" at any time in their FlightLog—structured reflection points where they assess their progress and define short, medium, and long-term goals. These learning steps serve as milestones that structure the progression journey and help pilots maintain a clear development path.

An innovative safety-focused feature evaluates flight exposure criteria, analyzing time spent in potentially challenging conditions. This exposure assessment helps pilots understand their risk management and progression in handling more demanding flying situations, contributing to safer skill development.

APPI FlightLog also provides wing management functionality. It tracks flight time for each glider the pilot owns and alerts the pilot when a service is recommended, contributing to safety.

APPI FlightLog facilitates progression tracking through structured instructor-student interaction. APPI instructors can access their students' flightlogs, review flight parameters and exposure levels at a glance, and engage in meaningful educational dialogue. Instructors can validate each flight or flag it for discussion, adding personalized comments that appear directly in the student's flightlog. This creates a real pedagogical exchange.

Instructors can also assign specific tasks to their students outside of formal training sessions, such as practicing approaches for tandem pilots or guiding exercises for instructor trainees. Students can upload video recordings of their performance directly to their flightlog, allowing instructors to review and provide detailed feedback remotely. This enables continuous monitoring and coaching between in-person training sessions, making the learning process more flexible and effective.

The system is particularly valuable for students in training, whether flying solo or tandem, as it enables instructors to provide timely feedback and track development over time.

When students work with different instructors, the complete training history—including flight analyses, instructor comments, and learning steps—remains accessible, ensuring continuity in their training journey.

APPI FlightLog is designed to be a tool enabling pilots of all levels to track their progression, exchange with their instructors and flight companions, and ensure effective equipment tracking.

We invite all APPI members to discover and use this exciting new feature, which promises to become an essential element in every pilot's journey.
