Thermalling

Thermalling certification means that the pilot has flown in mountainous areas, involving flight in thermal conditions.

PREREQUISITES

To enroll in APPI thermalling course, an individual must be certified APPI 2 progress, or be holder of a rating equivalent to FAI IPPI 2. Have the minimum age in accordance with local rules (Federation/ Civil Aviation/ Army, etc), and have the authorization of a parent/guardian if of minor age.

TRAINING

Knowledge of how to analyse the moutain environment : topography and breezes. Piloting abilities including pitch and collapse control. Master U-shape approach.

CERTIFICATION

Pilot has experience of a minimum of 10 flights in thermal conditions.
