cleared area in the forest, LZ out of view.Das Gelände Ascheloh Hermannsweg wurde mit viel Arbeitseinsatz erschlossen und unterhalten. Der Startplatz kann nur zu Fuß erreicht werden und liegt in einer Waldschneise am Kamm des Teutoburger Waldes. ACHTUNG: Nicht bei Seitenwind starten. Starke Turbulenzen! Startbare Windrichtungen sind W-SW. Ideal ist WSW. Gelandet wird im unteren Teil auf der Wiese im Hangauslauf auf dem Übungshang der Flugschule Bielefeld. Geländehalter des Startgeländes ist die Flugschule Werther-Westfalen (Udo Wilhelm). Starts dürfen nur nach Zustimmung von Udo Willhelm durchgeführt werdenimported from http://xc.dhv.de
Access
no car allowed in the forest. if you arrive by car, park at the bottom and walk up.
by bus, several options:
1) bus 62 or 21 from Bielefeld direction 'Großdornberg, Werther' - get off at 'Großdornberg Bürgeramt'. From there it's about one hour hiking: Follow the direction of the bus for 100m, go left at the sign 'BI-Kirchdornberg'. Walk until the village. In the second left-bend, turn right (following the sign 'Friedhof'). Walk until forest, keep to the right in the forest and then always uphill. If you always choose the uphill option, you can't miss the clearing at TO. It's a nice hike!

once you are airborne, the clearing will appear much smaller than from the ground ;)check windmills in the distance for wind direction, even with a SW or W it might seem to be WSW when standing in the clearing. expect turbulence at TO if the wind isn't blowing straight into the clearing.
