Instructor Pro-Workshop
Created by : Shahin Fallah 11333
Country : Lebanon
School : Crazy Diamonds Academy
from 8 Sept. to 22 Sept. 2026
Description
Context
The first course was a bit special: it focused mainly on SIV and tandem, left little time for assistant
instructor work, and the situation didn't allow for guiding practice.
According to APPI, an assistant instructor has:
• good theory knowledge
• the ability to give a theory class related to the practical training and adapted to the students
• the ability to guide take-off (procedure and radio communication), in flight and landing
(radio communication and approach accuracy); able to react properly in emergency
situations
• knowledge of the art of paragliding / able to analyse a pilot's shortcoming and propose a
solution using the pedagogical tandem
Thus, the objective of the first part of the second course is to complete the assistant instructor
module.
Preparation
• Study the theory / work through the open questions found at the end of the manual. Study
the APPI online resources (E-learning: pilot's manual, virtual courses, commented videos).
• Upload solo, tandem, and instructor procedures to your profile, to be validated by the master
instructor.
• Once procedures are validated, upload guided take-offs to your flight log, including
procedures and radio communication, until the master instructor confirms it's sufficient.
Videos will be either accepted or rejected, with explanations.
• Goal: 10 accepted take-offs.
Course
• D1 – Theory evaluation: 2 hours per person (1 hour to prepare, 1 hour at the whiteboard).
• D2–D5 – Guiding training. Take-off, landing, accuracy; ability to react properly in
emergency situations.
• D6 – Theory: how to develop a theory class adapted to the student and connected to practice.
Practice: theory course training (theory course battle, etc.).
• D7 – Art of paragliding / analysis of a pilot's shortcomings — (1) symptoms, (2) analysis →
find reasons, (3) the pedagogical tandem flight plan, (4) instructor/pilot self-analysis, (5)
passenger/student feedback on the experience. Practice with real students
• D8 – Complete assistant course / general and personalized debriefing and roadmap.
• Certification possible: assistant in progress (additionnal course required to
progress) / assistant pending roadmap completion / assistant validated.
Second part — open to those who have the necessary theory level and have validated guiding and
pedagogical tandem. Others continue training on those points.
• D9–D10 – General theory on pedagogy, presentation of the APPI course tools.
• D11 – Prepare a course together (art of paragliding / blank-page design / session planning).
• D12 – Prepare a course in groups of 2 (art of paragliding / blank-page design / session
planning / related theory class).
• D13 – Give the course on the field, feedback.
• D14 – Prepare a course in groups of 2 (art of paragliding / blank-page design / session
planning / related theory class).
• D15 – Give the course on the field, feedback. During days 12–15, additional tools will be
presented and studied, as well as use of the APPI platform (e.g. giving tests to students,
certifying rating items, etc.).
• D16 – General and personalized debriefing, roadmap.
• Certification possible: assistant validated (additionnal course required to progress) /
instructor in progress pending roadmap completion.
